Ex-Man United star Diego Forlán loses at Uruguay Open

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay — Former soccer star Diego Forlán’s newfound profession in skilled tennis began with a doubles loss Wednesday on the Uruguay Open.

The 45-year-old Forlán and Federico Coria of Argentina misplaced 6-1, 6-2 to Boris Arias and Federico Zeballos within the first spherical of the ATP’s second-tier challenger tour.

Forlán and Coria have been granted wild-card entries to play doubles within the event.

The Uruguay striker retired from soccer in 2019 after taking part in with prime golf equipment equivalent to Manchester United, Atlético Madrid and Internazionale. Forlán was the 2010 World Cup’s greatest participant and joint highest scorer; and netted twice within the 2011 Copa América ultimate to assist Uruguay win their first continental trophy in 16 years.

For the previous 5 years, Forlán has taken half in newbie grasp’s tennis tournaments, and had some success that earned him the invitation to play in Uruguay’s largest skilled event.
