FAIRFAX, Va.—Democrats and Republicans selected candidates in northern Virginia on Saturday who will vie to switch the late U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly, a Democrat who served the congressional district within the Washington suburbs for 16 years.
Democrats selected James Walkinshaw, who presently serves on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors—which oversees the native finances and insurance policies. Republicans picked Stewart Whitson, an Military veteran and former FBI agent.
