Palestinian co-director of Oscar winner ‘No Other Land’ attacked by settlers, arrested

Hamdan Ballal, the Palestinian co-director of the Oscar-winning documentary No Different Land, has reportedly been attacked by settlers in his village on the West Financial institution and arrested.

The incident was reported by co-director and Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham on X, who wrote: “A bunch of settlers simply lynched Hamdan Ballal, co-director of our movie No Different Land. They beat him and he has accidents in his head and abdomen, bleeding. Troopers invaded the ambulance he referred to as and took him. No signal of him since.”

Abraham then posted {that a} “lynch mob” attacked Ballal’s village and continued to assault American activists, “breaking their automobile with stones”. He reiterated that Ballal’s whereabouts remained unknown.

In accordance with The Guardian, which cited 5 Jewish American activists who witnessed the incident, Ballal was surrounded by round 15 armed settlers who threw stones and destroyed a water cooler. The report mentioned that after the assault Ballal was taken into custody by the Israeli military together with one other, unidentified, man.
