WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says he plans to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico beginning subsequent Tuesday, along with doubling the ten% common tariff charged on imports from China.
Posting on Reality Social on Thursday, Trump stated that illicit medicine akin to fentanyl are being smuggled into america at “unacceptable ranges” and that import taxes would pressure different nations to crackdown on the trafficking.
“We can’t enable this scourge to proceed to hurt the USA, and due to this fact, till it stops, or is significantly restricted, the proposed TARIFFS scheduled to enter impact on MARCH FOURTH will, certainly, go into impact, as scheduled,” the Republican president wrote. “China will likewise be charged an extra 10% Tariff on that date.”
