WASHINGTON—On Aug. 11, President Donald Trump federalized management over the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Division (MPD) and ordered 800 Nationwide Guard troops to be activated within the nation’s capital.
“I’m asserting a historic motion to rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor, and worse,” Trump stated at a White Home press briefing. “That is Liberation Day in DC, and we’re going to take our capital again.”
